IDEOLOGY
In this particular section I will be critically assessing ideology within three music videos and illustrating how I intend to construct the ideological messages and values within my own music video.
An ideology is a world view, a system of values, attitudes and beliefs which an individual, group or society holds to be true or important.

MUSIC VIDEO 1
STRESS BY JUSTICE
In this video they want to clearly state that youths have not got a say in changes in society and want to heard out more. This video is buying into the stereotypical belief that most young, black males are aggressive, possibly members of a gang and have no desire to have a decent fulfilling future in life.
MUSIC VIDEO 2
A TEAM BY ED SHEERAN
I feel there are dominant ideologies in this video. Homeless people tend to be represented negatively even if it isn't their fault that they have no where to live. Also society believe that homeless/poor people are either alcoholics or are drug abusers. This is how the video represents them exactly. Another dominant ideology is the fact that society in this video are being represented negatively, as they ignore the character completely by walking past, therefor suggesting they are selfish and do not care about the poor.
MUSIC VIDEO 3
FEATHERSTONE BY THE PAPER KITES
'Featherstone' by The Paper Kites follows an ideology of young people and their freedom. It represents the young children as innocent and carefree, sheltered from the true harsh reality of the lives of many young people. This is the way that society would like to believe most children of this age act. Although this isn't entirely correct.
INFLUENCE ON MY OWN MUSIC VIDEO
Stress by Justice did not influence the ideology in our music video. I think this is because this was not such an interesting concept for us as we could not identify with the plight of the black youths. The A Team by Ed Sheeran effected our choice of theme as we felt that it was a true reflection of the ideology of young women from a poor economic and social background.
It was our intention to challange the stereotypicall view of homelessness, this is why we chose to have the homeless person as a clean, middle classed and well dressed young girl. We wanted the audience to prossume they were sisters having a fun day out which was a long way from the true harsh reality of the situation. In my opinion the ideology of a young middle classed girl is one from a good background, loving parents with a good education, who would never find herself without a home. We wanted to show that homelessness could effect anybody from any walk of life regardless of gender, race or economic background.
